Victoria BC Weather - The Best in Canada!

Looking for the best weather in Canada? Climate records show that Victoria BC weather's the best in the country - right here on our beautiful Vancouver Island!

Victoria (our largest city), boasts the lowest rainfall on Canada's West Coast and gets the most days of sunshine. The city has been crowned "the mildest climate in Canada" which is one reason why we get year-round outdoor tourism!

But there's one month that Victoria BC weather gets a bit ugly. January sees the worst weather in the city, with about 16 days on average of rain.

But you can still enjoy plenty of outdoor adventures in the Victoria area (in a waterproof jacket). Lots of people come out for fishing, sailing and golfing (die hard golfers will still play in the rain!) Graeme and I have done plenty of hiking on good bark mulch and paved trails throughout Victoria's winter season.

An umbrella should definitely form part of your wardrobe if you're going to arrive in the winter, between the months of November through January. Forgot yours? No worries - plenty of shops carry large quantities of them!

Something stunning that you shouldn't miss?

Here's a photo of the city's spring cherry trees exploding in full blossom! Tree-lined streets and sidewalks are painted pink - one of our favorite times of the year, and a good time to visit.

Seasonal Weather for the City of Victoria BC

Victoria BC weather is truly exceptional in Canada. With an average of 2,183 hours of sunshine each year, flowers are in bloom year-round - a climate that makes the rest of the country envious (our moment to brag!)

To help you plan your adventures around Victoria BC weather, we'll give you an idea of what the seasons are like.

Here's what to expect:

SPRING (March to May) - Our favorite time of the year in Victoria. Mild weather, more sunshine filled days, and the explosion of the city's cherry trees saturate the streets in bright pink! This time of year can see some southwesterly gusts of wind that mark spring. Temperatures range from 11° to 15°C, and layered clothing is still good for March and April.

SUMMER (June to August) - Summers are usually comfortable, with city temperatures ranging from 20° to 27°C. For a few days (almost always in July) it can get pretty hot, reaching up to 30 to 32°C with no breeze. Good idea to still bring something with long sleeves if you are going out at night, as the air off the Pacific can substantially cool down Victoria summer evenings.

FALL (September to November) - Expect a warm, sunny September (about 16° to 18°C) with fall arriving late in the month. It's the best time of the year for a walk through the leaves at Beacon Hill Park, Victoria's best urban green space! October is very mild, and November sees temperatures falling around the 8° to 10°C.

WINTER (December to February) - The heaviest months of rain for Victoria are December through January, with temperatures averaging around 6°C. The city rarely sees snow. Spring can arrive as early as late February, but it's still chilly and we recommend wearing warm clothing - a wool sweater or fleece under a jacket. Don't forget the umbrella!

Pick any season - Victoria BC weather let's you have tons of great outdoor adventures. Enjoy your stay!
