Best Modest Budget Victoria BC Hotels
The
Dalton Hotel
TOPS OUR LIST for a good budget downtown Victoria hotel that's well-priced for it's great location (corner of Blanshard and Yates Streets). Renovated rooms with nice decor. Standard room is $119 in High Season/$79.00 Low Season. Easy to walk anywhere in the city. Restaurant next door (Platinum) serves excellent food. Movie theatres directly across the street. OUR TIP: Ask for a room that doesn't face Yates Street if you like it quiet.
The
Days Inn
is a modest Victoria BC hotel located right at the Inner Harbour - excellent location if you're on foot. As part of a chain, there's no charm to the rooms, but they tend to run some good seasonal specials, and packages. Rooms are clean, with a heated outdoor pool. On-site restaurant has good (not outstanding) meals with good selections for kids.
The
Travelodge
is a hotel (motel) we tried that's located on the Gorge - an area only about a 5 minute drive from downtown Victoria. Definitely no frills rooms, but clean, quiet and comfortable. If you don't want to stay right downtown, this is a good option. Indoor pool and cafe (but we didn't eat there) are on-site.
Best Luxury Hotels in Victoria BC
The
Empress Hotel
Victoria BC is a stunning 476-room landmark hotel standing since 1908. For big budget hotels, this one TOPS OUR LIST. The hotel caters to high-end travelers and oozes with charm and elegance. The Empress occupies the best place overlooking the Inner Harbour - if you get a room at the front of the building, you'll have incredible views of Victoria harbour sunsets. OUR TIP NOT TO MISS: The 95-year old tradition of Afternoon Tea in the hotel, and evening cocktails in the Bengal Lounge - THE BEST and classiest lounge in Victoria (our fave)!
The
Coast Victoria Harbourside Hotel & Marina
is an excellent Victoria BC hotel with every room offering a city or harbour view. Our parents stayed here and loved it. Although its location puts it at the far (southerly) end of the harbour, you can still get to downtown Victoria on foot easily. Bonus: hotel has its own private 42-slip marina. Generous sized rooms with excellent amenities. The Blue Crab Bar and Grill, one of our favourites, is located in the hotel and offers superb meals - especially the seafood.
The
Hotel Grand Pacific
is another luxury hotel in Victoria, located in the Inner Harbour across from the Wax Museum. Excellent rooms all come with private balconies. Bonus: you can request a room with a harbour, city or mountain view. Very good on-site restaurant, spa facilities, and more, and this hotel's got very easy access to downtown.
Enjoy your adventure vacation in Victoria British Columbia!
