Best Tofino Resorts (Western Island & Ucluelet)
The Wickaninnish Inn
- If you're looking for an incredible Vancouver Island resort for winter stormwatching, here's one! Perched on rocks overlooking the Pacific, this is a world-famous luxurious and cozy resort; a good place for everyone: romantic for couples, welcoming for families. The restaurant is incredible, and the service is excellent. NOTE: Be prepared to shell out at this top-rated resort...it's expensive.
Long Beach Lodge Resort
- One of our favourites! Sophisticated with a bit of "rustic," this resort is situated at Cox Bay (a smaller part of the Pacific Rim beach). It's a perfect resort if you just want to relax and walk the beach. Cox Bay is uncrowded, and one of the best spots to try out surfing. Our Favourite? Check out the Great Room - a sitting room for guests with a huge fireplace, large windows, and oversized chairs. Relax here and watch the incredible sunsets!
Tauca Lea Resort & Spa
- Another Vancouver Island resort located in the heart of Ucluelet - near one of our favourite hiking trails - The Wild Pacific Trail. Good rooms - some with Jacuzzi tubs on the outside deck - with comfy beds. Some have basic-outfitted kitchens if you plan on staying. The on-site restaurant (the Boat Basin) has gotten better. NOTE: This is NOT an OCEANSIDE resort. If that's not important, then you'll like it here. OUR TIP: Get a room on the inlet side - it's the nicer view.
Best Victoria BC Resorts (Southern Island Area)
Brentwood Bay Lodge & Spa
- If you want 5-star luxury in a brand new oceanfront resort, this is it. A small, but decadent and romantic Vancouver Island resort located in Brentwood Bay (about 12 miles north of Victoria) makes you feel secluded, but close to the city. Gorgeous modern rooms and great surroundings. Make sure you reserve a trip on the water taxi (well in advance) for a visit to the very famous and stunning Butchart Gardens.
Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort & Spa
- A good resort in downtown Victoria for families, where kids get extra attention (group storytime at night with cookies and milk). Spa for mom, and a good pool for the kids. Located in Victoria's Inner Harbour - easy to walk right into downtown for shopping/sightseeing. We haven't tried the restaurant in the resort. Alternatively, it's a short walk downtown for more dining options. Try out Cafe Mexico for the best Mexican food!
Best Parksville BC Resorts (Central Eastern Island Area)
Ocean Trails Resort
- If you're looking for a beach holiday with the kids and want to stay awhile, here's a good resort. Located on a wide open beach in Parksville, it's a clean and roomy resort offering townhouse style rooms, with full kitchens. Playground for the kids and a nice pool too. Extremely well-priced, making it affordable for a family.
Beach Acres Resort
- Interested in staying in a cottage on the beach or in the forest? Here's another Vancouver Island resort we'd recommend for families or for a couple wanting quiet beach time. Stay in an oceanview townhouse, or a beachfront cabin or forest cottage which separate you from everyone else. Rooms are clean and comfy. A definite must: eat at the on-site Maclure House Restaurant - excellent food.
Kingfisher Spa & Resort
- Here's an oceanfront resort if you want a combined spa and ski vacation! Situated about 5 minutes south of Courtenay, this resort has an excellent spa. Resort's not far from Mount Washington - about a 35 minute drive. Excellent food in their dining room overlooking the ocean. Alternatively, head to downtown Courtenay and try one of our favourite restaurants: The Atlas Cafe (reservations are essential, and it's busy, so be prepared to wait. The food's worth it).
Vancouver Island can be your British Columbia resort destination. Relax, unwind and spoil yourself!
