The Perfect Storm - Cozy up in Your Vancouver Island Oceanfront Accommodation

For your storm watching adventure, we'll recommend a Vancouver Island oceanfront accommodation that best suits your style and budget.

A big advantage to winter season storm watching? Winter is the "off-season" on the West Coast, so your stay will be less than any other time of the year.

From luxury Vancouver Island oceanfront resorts, to pitching a tent steps from the beach (for the ultimate adventurer), we've selected the best places to stay.

Bringing the kids? No problem. All our favourite lodgings are "family-friendly."

Check out our recommended places to stay for your most memorable storm watching ever!

Luxury Accommodations

If your storm watching adventure includes a big budget, then we know exactly where to send you to experience waves and candlelight:

  • The Wickaninnish Inn - Famously decadent, this premiere Vancouver Island oceanfront accommodation is right on the beach and is easy access to Long Beach storms. They even offer a Winter Storm Package for your stay, so check into that!

  • Long Beach Lodge Resort - Beachfront lodge and rainforest cottages are available at this absolutely beautiful Vancouver Island oceanfront beach resort. Continental breakfast is included in all room rates.

Moderately Priced Lodging

If you have a more modest budget, then we suggest the following beachfront accommodations for your storm watching experience:

  • Best Western Tin Wis Resort - We have stayed here in the winter and absolutely loved it! This is a great place to stay with good amenities and great views of the beach!

  • Crystal Cove Beach Resort - We have also stayed here and really enjoyed it (great beachcombing!) Offering log cabins (cabins are equipped with kitchens), this is a very popular resort.

Cheap Digs

If you prefer to spend as little as possible and are into more "rugged" accommodations, we would suggest these:

  • Crystal Cove Beach Resort - Along with cabins, they offer year-round camping. We've camped here as a family and the sites are great; well-treed and protected from the wind. Walk for a couple of minutes and you're standing on the open beach.

  • Bella Pacifica Campground - We've been here and you are just steps from the ocean. Another great campsite! Most sites have views of the beach and can accommodate tents, vans and trailers - big or small.
