Our Top Picks For Your Vancouver Island Golf Course Adventures

Trying to figure out which Vancouver Island golf course is right for you? We're going to make that decision much easier ... we'll tell you which golf courses we recommend you play here on the Island (and there are some pretty outstanding courses!)

We've got some of the best outdoor adventures here, and golfing is no exception. We have some of the top golf courses in Canada right here!

If you're looking for a Vancouver Island oceanfront golfing experience, then we've found the perfect one for you.

By the way... each of the golf courses we've recommended have a full-service clubhouse.

Our Picks For Best Island Courses

  • Victoria Golf Club - Southern Island (Victoria)

  • If you want to play a Vancouver Island oceanfront golf course, this one's it. Located at 1110 Beach Drive, this 18-hole course perches right on the edge of Juan de Fuca Strait. It's one of the most beautiful courses on the Island (in our opinion), and not to be missed if you're in the area.

This is interesting... Founded in 1893, it's the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi. Victoria Golf Club offers putting and chipping greens and a warm-up practice range. Call in advance for tee (and dress code) information.

  • Cordova Bay Golf Club - Southern Island (Victoria)
  • Located at 5333 Cordova Bay Road (20 minutes north of downtown Victoria), this is an 18-hole public course. Golf-Travel.com picked this as one of the Best International Golf Courses to play!

Facts: ranked in the top "100 Women Friendly Courses" in North America by Golf for Women Magazine, and was given a 4-Star rating by Golf Digest's Best Places to Play List. So yes, it's pretty outstanding.

To get here: take Highway 17 to Sayward Road, and turn right. Continue for about 2 minutes - you'll see the sign.

  • Arbutus Ridge Golf Club - Southern Island (near Victoria) NEW ADDITION!
  • This one is located in Cobble Hill, about a 35 minute drive north of Victoria. Offers 18-hole course, punctuated with some demanding finishing holes.

Arbutus Ridge received a 4-Star Rating from Golf Digest's Best Places to Play 2008/2009. Scenic, fairly challenging and affordable... so it makes our list.

  • Pheasant Glen - Central Island (Qualicum Beach)

One of the Island's most likeable courses, Pheasant Glen is a 6,600 yard, par 72 championship length golf course. You'll love the scenery and the challenging greens.

Most Island golf enthusiasts we've been talking to speak highly about this course. Check out their excellent web site which gives you a detailed "tour" of all 18 holes!

  • Arrowsmith Golf and Country Club - Central Island (Qualicum Beach)

Here's a really challenging 18-hole Vancouver Island golf course and a popular choice among central Islanders. It's located just 10 minutes north of Qualicum Beach (north of Nanaimo) off the Coastal Highway 19A.

They offer a driving range, a practice bunker, and two practice greens.

  • Crown Isle Golf - Northern Island (Courtenay/Comox Valley)

This is an 18-hole championship Vancouver Island golf course that we really like, and find that it's easily "playable" for golfers of all levels.

This is the Island's longest course at 7,024 yards and offers stunning views of the coastal mountains. A popular course with Islanders, it's getting more attention from outside players. Driving range, putting greens, and definitely check out the classic car museum downstairs in the clubhouse!

  • Storey Creek Golf Club - Northern Island (Campbell River)

If you're looking for a really challenging northern Vancouver Island golf course to play, this would be it.

Actually, a number of locals have told us that this is their favourite course on the whole Island! Each fairway is enclosed in forest giving a sense of solitude and tranquility. This is the course designed by Les Furber.

Graeme and I agree... these are the best choices for golf courses here on Vancouver Island!

You'll definitely have a great game on any of these courses.
