Discover Hideaways, Hiking and More in Uncrowded Ucluelet BC Canada

Ucluelet BC Canada is the place to come if you want ocean wilderness adventures combined with a cozy getaway vacation. Ucluelet is located on Vancouver Island's rugged western coast and it's a trip worth making!

Nestled away in rainforest and solitude, this is a unique little village where you can get away from it all and still enjoy a bit of everything.

Whether it's fishing, coastal hiking, or a super cozy hideaway you're after, Ucluelet makes our Top 3 list for best remote getaway locations here on Vancouver Island. Check out what Ucluelet BC Canada can offer you.

Stuff To Do in Ucluelet BC Canada

Love to fish? Book a charter for some of the biggest and best halibut fishing. Ucluelet BC Canada has some of the best fishing! Our neighbour, Mario, makes all his fishing trips to Ucluelet to reel in big Halibut and Salmon. We've never seen him come home empty-handed! Mario recommends Salmon Eye Charters if you want a great chartered fishing trip. Day Trips and Packages available.

Ready to hike? If it's hiking trails you're after, this is the location of a fantastic new trail you'll want to try! Ucluelet BC Canada is home to The Wild Pacific Trail and is a not-to-miss hike carved out along the rocky shores of the Ucluelet peninsula. Incredible views of Barkley Sound and the Broken Islands of Pacific Rim National Park. The trail itself is impressive with wide pathways and boardwalks under a cedar and spruce rainforest. Bring the camera!

"Where's the best place to start hiking the Wild Pacific Trail?"

Hike the 3km loop by starting out at Peninsula Road. Follow it along onto the He-Tin-Kis boardwalk which lands you right back at Peninsula Road. This section takes about 1 hour to complete (leisurely pace), and can be easily walked by any age group. The Trail picks up again further north at Big Beach Park. This section of the hike is longer and steeper and ends at the Pacific Rim Highway. Walk the bike path to get back to town.

Eager to Explore?Ucluelet BC Canada is one of those neat little villages you can explore on foot. Although it won't take you long to see most of it, you'll like the quietness of the village and the friendly shopkeepers. Definitely stop in at Matterson Tea House (if you can find an empty table) for an excellent breakfast or lunch - one of our favourite places to eat. You'll find it at 1682 Peninsula Road, in a quaint old house.

One not-to-miss stop is the Ucluelet Aquarium. Although small, it's well arranged. Interesting if you want to find out what lives in our local waters. Hands-on exhibit is a hit with kids. For more information, Click Here to see their web site.

Best Ucluelet Accommodation

Some cozy hideaways are right here in Ucluelet BC Canada - tucked away under the canopy of one of Vancouver Island’s most beautiful rainforests.

We’ll tell you which resorts top our list along with some great B&Bs we highly suggest you try.

BEST RESORTS IN UCLUELET

Terrace Beach Resort – If you want resort-type lodging nestled into the trees, this is one we like. This resort's owned by actor Jason Priestley and his family, and is a nice nestled-in-the-trees hideaway for couples or families.

Rustic-style cabins provide a kitchen. Especially nice are the bedrooms with soaker tubs. Other choices: loft accommodations and the more affordable suites. Excellent location as you'll be adjacent to the Wild Pacific Trail, and within walking distance to Amphitrite Point and its famed lighthouse. OUR TIP: Avoid cabins 1, 3 & 4. These are not owned/managed by Terrace Beach Resort, so you may not get the same level of furnishings, comfort and service as offered by Terrace Beach Resort.

Tauca Lea Resort and Spa – If you're in the mood for a resort with a spa, this is a good choice. Generously large suites come with a soaker tub, comfy beds, kitchens and have a very nice décor.

There are two "waterview" choices here: the Ucluelet Marina or the Ucluelet Inlet - no sweeping oceans views. However, both are peaceful and we don't think you'll be disappointed. If you'd like, ask for a room with one of the private outdoor jacuzzi tubs (some have said the tubs can be a bit loud). The resort has an on-site spa and the Boat Basin restaurant.

BEST UCLUELET BED AND BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATIONS

Majestic Ocean B&B – An outstanding bed and breakfast (recommended on Trip Advisor). Clean, quiet and comfy rooms with a nice view of Ucluelet Inlet. Owners Tracy and Ted offer up a good breakfast before you head outdoors. This B&B is close to the not-to-miss Wild Pacific Trail.

Ebb Tide Bed and Breakfast Inn - Another nice oceanfront B&B that’s clean and comfortable. Three really nice rooms are available, and the house has a large veranda to relax on to enjoy the ocean view. This B&B location puts you right at the edge of the Wild Pacific Trail. Best to call ahead for reservations.

Have a great time in Ucluelet BC Canada and don't forget... we want to hear from you after you visit our gorgeous Vancouver Island!
