Great Campgrounds in Tofino and Long Beach
Where to pitch your tent or park your RV while you enjoy the rugged West Coast.
If you're looking for great campgrounds in Tofino, look no further. We advise you on which ones we like best for your Vancouver Island West Coast adventures! Love beach camping? The Island's a great spot for this. There's absolutely no shortage of beachside campgrounds, but spots can get booked up fast in the summer months, so try to book as far ahead as possible.
One thing to note about the Island: the weather. Weather on the West Coast can be unpredictable and can change rapidly, so be prepared for rain. July can see rain with sun, but August is the driest, hottest month. September is usually warm and dry also.
Our Favourite Campgrounds in Tofino
Crystal Cove Beach Resort:
One of our favorite RV campgrounds in Tofino. About 10 minutes from Tofino, Crystal Cove campground has easy access to a wonderful, quiet beach where the kids can hunt for shells and fly kites. They offer good RV sites (no tenting) and cabins. On-site showers, laundry and a playground for the kids. Be sure to reserve well in advance if you plan to stay here in the summer (June to September). The beachfront cabins are excellent.
Parks Canada Campground:
A real Long Beach experience. There's not much in the way of amenities (not even any showers on site) but there's a couple of big advantages to this campground. First, you’re actually inside Pacific Rim National Park. Second, a short trail leads straight from the campground to incredible Long Beach. This campground's located between Ucluelet (to the south) and Tofino (to the north), so give yourself about 20 minutes to get into either town. In high season (May to September) reservations are absolutely necessary and book well in advance through Parks Canada website, or call 1-877-737-3783.
Bella Pacifica Campground:
Less than 10 minutes from Tofino, this excellent campground has spectacular views of Mackenzie Beach and the open Pacific. Sites right on the beach are suitable for tents and small RVs only, but the sites on the next level (the campground is built on a terraced hillside) are good for large units and have spectacular views. If you're looking for a fully-serviced RV site, you may have a hard time getting one with an ocean view (aren't many of these). Even without a view site, it's an excellent place to stay while visiting Tofino and Long Beach.
