CLUXEWE RESORT - If you want to head up to the northern Island, these are the best oceanfront cabins! We were impressed with the views, the cleanliness and the rates. A basic cabin but with stunning ocean views. Good place to stay if you're interested in whale watching, fishing or exploring on the northern Island.

POINT-NO-POINT RESORT - If you want to stay on the southern Island, this is our top pick for Vancouver Island cabin rentals away from it all, yet still close to shopping and services. Located just past the town of Sooke (about a 1 hr, 20 min drive west of Victoria), these guys have 25 very cozy cabins to choose from. We love the views, and the floorplans. Rustic-type cabins and most offer private hot tubs. Really reasonable prices. Bonus: If you're sick of cooking, they've got a tremendously good restaurant on-site at the resort.

Best Family Cabins on Vancouver Island
Interested this year in family cabin adventures? We know of some really good cabin rentals Vancouver Island offers for families that everyone will like:
PACIFIC PLAYGROUNDS - This is a campground resort with clean, family-friendly vacation cabins located on-site. Located on the central Island (north of Courtenay/Comox), these are just your basic cabin, but the rates are reasonable, and there's plenty for the kids to do: outdoor pool (small), fishing dock, sandy beach and ice cream at the general store. A good place for biking. Our Tip: Try to book a cabin on the river side - nicer side with the sound of the river right off your patio.

TOFINO WAVES - This beachfront cottage rental is at our favourite beach on Vancouver Island - Chesterman Beach, Tofino (on the wild western coast). This one's a large accommodation - excellent for families with kids (cool 3-tier bunk beds), full kitchen, two bathrooms and a wood burning fireplace (a great feature after walks on the beach!)

Best Vancouver Island Luxury Resort Cabins
LONG BEACH LODGE RESORT - One of our TOP picks for cabin rentals Vancouver Island offers! Located outside of Tofino on our wild, western coast. These guys offer Rainforest Cottages nestled in the trees, but walk past the main lodge and you're only steps to the beach. Each cottage has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen, fireplace AND a private patio hot tub! Downside: the parking area is close to the front of the cottages, but the location is still worth it.

CABINS WEST - A really great cabin to stay in if you head out to Ucluelet, on the Island's western coast. New log-style cabins are clean, with great decor. Choose from a lower cabin or the upper (loft) cabin. Upper cabins have a few 'extra' luxuries like a deep soaker tub. Location is really close (about a 6 min. walk) to the fantastic Wild Pacific Trail, and is a convenient drive into town.
